Dolphins
(4 – 5y)

Prep Room

The Dolphins room is an exciting space for children aged 4 to 6 years, where two educators care for up to 20 children at a 1:10 ratio. This room is focused on preparing children for a confident and successful transition into school, combining hands-on learning with opportunities to explore, create, and discover.

Children in the Dolphins room enjoy using interactive tools such as smart boards and iPads to enhance their learning. Our Senior School Readiness program has been designed in partnership with local primary schools and families, ensuring that each child is supported to develop the skills needed for a smooth start to formal schooling. The classroom also connects directly to a large outdoor play space, allowing children to move freely between indoor and outdoor learning experiences.

Learning in the Dolphins room goes beyond letters and numbers. Children build a wide range of essential skills, including:

  • Self-confidence and independence – taking responsibility for routines, choices, and personal belongings

  • Social and emotional skills – learning teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving through collaborative play and guided activities

  • Early literacy and numeracy – exploring letters, words, numbers, patterns, and problem-solving in engaging and playful ways

  • Creativity and critical thinking – encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and imaginative play

  • Digital skills – using age-appropriate technology to support learning and discovery

  • Second language learning – through the ELLA program, children have fun learning another language, developing early language skills in an interactive way

Everyday experiences in the Prep room are designed to foster independence, curiosity, and a love of learning. Children leave the program feeling confident, capable, and ready to embrace the exciting journey of formal schooling.
